Mixed Media - mosaic, pebbles, stone, gold leaf, sand and gypsumAkhenaten's Wife and Daughters reinterprets ancient Egyptian imagery through a contemporary mixed-media language. The composition brings together stylised human figures, geometric structures and fragmented mosaic forms, creating a visual dialogue between the order of ancient Egyptian art and the expressive freedom of contemporary practice.Rather than reproducing historical imagery literally, the artist evokes the spirit of ancient Egyptian visual culture through simplified profiles, symbolic gestures, rhythmic lines and a carefully structured composition. The fragmented arrangement of mosaic, stone and other natural materials gives the work a tactile, almost archaeological character, while the contemporary treatment prevents it from becoming a reconstruction of the past. The composition is built around balance, symmetry and geometric movement. Interlocking pieces of mosaic and stone create a sense of continuity, while diagonal lines and curved forms guide the eye across the figures and surrounding space. The material itself becomes part of the narrative: fragments come together to create a unified image, suggesting the way cultural memory survives through layers of time. The restrained palette of brown, beige, grey, muted green and gold draws from the colours of the Egyptian landscape and traditional materials. Gold leaf introduces a luminous element, evoking the ancient Egyptian association of gold with eternity, sacredness and light.Through this work, the artist explores the continuity of Egyptian cultural consciousness - not as a fixed historical image, but as a living visual language capable of being reinterpreted through contemporary materials and artistic expression.
